Who we Are
The Afar Intellectuals Association (AFIA) is a nationally registered professional association founded in 2020 in Samara, Afar Regional State, Ethiopia. We are a dedicated group of young scholars united by a shared passion for empowering underprivileged communities and driving inclusive, sustainable development across the region.
We serve as a vital bridge, connecting donor communities with impoverished groups to tackle critical developmental challenges, including illiteracy, malnutrition, environmental degradation, lack of peace, and unemployment.
Our Mission
AFIA is committed to empowering Afar communities through education, research, and advocacy. We strive to address the region’s developmental challenges while fostering innovation and progress. By promoting critical thinking and collaboration, we aim to create a brighter future for the Afar people.
Our Vision
To see a prosperous and empowered Afar society where knowledge, innovation, and cultural heritage drive sustainable development and social justice.
